A woman is being treated in hospital following a fire at a residence in West Clare this morning.
The alarm was raised shortly after 11.00am when a fire was reported at a residential property near Spanish Point.
Units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service from Ennistymon station responded to the incident along with Gardaí and the National Ambulance Service.
It’s understood that a fire broke out in an upstairs bedroom and that a female occupant suffered smoke inhalation as well as burns to her hands. The fire was quickly brought under control by fire crews.
The woman was cared for at the scene by fire service personnel until an ambulance arrived.
After being assessed and treated by paramedics, the woman was removed to hospital for further examination. Her injuries are not believed to be serious.
