The decision has been welcomed by the Chairman of the Fleadh Executive Committee, Frank Whelan.

‘Safety and good management are top priorities for us in the organisation of Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in Ennis in 2017. We are buoyed by the fact that the plans we now have in place have been approved by Clare County Council – plans that relate to traffic management, crowd control, health & safety and the general co-ordination of this large-scale event. We will now deliver these plans in accordance with the licence and best practice while not losing any of the sense of fun and good spirit for which the Fleadh is noted,’ he said.

Frank Whelan went on to say that the Fleadh Executive Committee is particularly grateful to the Statutory Agencies and to the Local Authority for the support and co-operation in helping make this event safe, exciting and another memorable event for the town and the wider county.

The Event Licence Application was lodged on April 12th. Public submissions were sought and subsequently made to the Planning Department of Clare County Council. Having considered those submissions and inputs from the Gardaí, HSE and the Fire Service, Clare County Council has granted a Licence to run the Fleadh again in Ennis in August.

Adrian Jackson of Safety Solutions is the Event Controller for Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in 2017 for the second year running.
