‘Grime scene’ sealed off to highlight gum scourge

Members of Clare County Council, An Garda Síochána, Ennis Tidy Towns Committee and the Queens Nightclub are working together to raise awareness of gum litter in Ennis as part of National Spring Clean Month.

This week, the group created three ‘grime scenes’ around the nightclub where the teenagers queue to enter and asked all teenagers to count the amount of discarded chewing gum was in each grime scene.

Correct answers were placed in a draw with free admittance to the next teenage disco for the winners.

Gum wraps were handed out to all teenagers and each one was asked to do the right thing; place your used gum in a gum wrap and place in a bin.
