The General Manager of the Trump International Golf Links and Hotel is hopeful that more business groups will visit the West Clare resort and believes the revenue they bring benefits the local area as well as the region.
Joe Russell was speaking following a visit over the weekend by Executive Vice President of the Trump Organisation Eric Trump (33) who hosted a group of 30 US business people at his family’s property.
The group arrived in Shannon on Saturday morning and travelled to Doonbeg by coach where they enjoyed a round of golf and an overnight stay at the five star property.
Eric Trump also visited the facility in April where he held a series of meetings including discussions on the future of the resort and an ongoing planning process surrounding proposed coastal protection works at the property.
Speaking following the weekend visit, General Manager Joe Russell said: “These groups bring much valued revenues to the resort and associated expenditures on local attractions, services and businesses. My hope is that they continue to grow for our region.”

Mr Russell, who has managed the facility since 2003, added: “In fact there is a great Buzz around the Hotel and village of Doonbeg, not only because of Eric’s visit but also due to our Members Week, a highlight in the calendar for all Doonbeg Golf Club members. Definitely one of our busiest weeks in the middle of record breaking season for visitors to Trump Doonbeg and Ireland. Our busiest season since the Hotel opened in 2006.”
