Clare County Council has written to households requesting to complete a housing needs assessment form. The assessment is being conducted by Local Authorities across the country on the direction of the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government.
Letter recipients who fail to complete and return the housing needs assessment forms and the required documents to Clare County Council’s Housing Department on or before Friday August 5th, 2016 run the risk of being removed from the local authority housing waiting list..
There are 3,491 approved housing applications on the housing list in County Clare, including 573 applicants who are existing local authority tenants approved for transfer or applicants who have existing long term social housing supports through the RAS or Social Leasing. Many applicants do not wish to be considered for Council housing, and are on the housing list in order to access rent allowance or a Housing Assistance Payment (HAP).
During 2015, Clare County Council processed 97 allocations to local authority owned properties, 72 leases and 210 HAP tenancies.
