From 6-11 September 2019, The Emerald Isle Express will be whisking passengers from Dublin to The Wild Atlantic Way and back again, with two nights in Killarney, three nights in Galway, visits to Cork and Westport, and a wide choice of optional excursions.

On Friday 6 September, The Emerald Isle Express heads south to the stunning region of Kerry and Killarney, where passengers will stay for two nights. Known as Ireland’s Lake District, the stay here is arguably one of the trip’s greatest highlights.

On Sunday 8 September (day three) the train heads west, stopping for 2-3 hours at Limerick – Ireland’s City of Culture for 2014, before reaching Galway, where passengers will stay for three nights in specially chosen hotels, including the five-star G Hotel. Passengers have the luxury of two days at leisure here to explore the vibrant city centre or join optional tours to the Cliffs of Moher or The Aran Islands.

On Wednesday 11 September (day six), the train will take passengers along the River Shannon, chugging back across Ireland for an early afternoon arrival back in Dublin.

Chairman of Steam Dreams, David Buck commented; “We are delighted to be teaming up with the fantastic team at the Railway Preservation Society once again, offering passengers the chance to visit some fabulous locations with spectacular scenery throughout – all by steam! Passengers can sit back in the elegance and comfort of the beautifully preserved Craven Coaches and be looked after by our excellent on-board train team.”

He added; “As with our regular multi day trips to Scotland and Cornwall, we have designed the itinerary to allow flexibility for our passengers, offering them the choice of exploring each destination at their leisure or joining one of our many excursions.”

Places on board The Emerald Isle Express for this exciting six day trip are available in four different classes, ranging from Non–Dining at £1,195 per person, right up to Pullman Style Dining at £1,995 per person. This includes five nights’ hotel accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis, and for those in Premier and Pullman Style Dining it will also include dinner every day in the hotel or on the train and lunch when on the train.
