Nova to deliver Coast Guard mission system at Shannon

Nova Systems will expand its partnership with Bristow Group to support the delivery of the Irish Coast Guard (IrCG) search & rescue (SAR) aviation contract.

Nova Systems has announced that they have been awarded a contract by Bristow Ireland Limited as the mission system integrator for Bristow’s six AW189 helicopters supporting the search and rescue on behalf of the Irish Coast Guard.

Nova Systems will use their EASA approved Part 21 Design Organisation in Shannon to act as the mission system integrator for the six AW189 helicopters, providing a bespoke solution to meet the demanding SAR mission requirements.

Gareth Dyer, Managing Director International for Nova Systems, said the Irish SAR contract will ensure accelerated capability, improvements and longevity of vital lifesaving search and rescue aviation services.

“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Bristow Group to deliver a world-class mission system that supports the critical life-saving work of the Irish SAR operators,” Mr Dyer said.

Bristow Ireland Limited was selected by the Irish Department of Transport to deliver search and rescue aviation services, including both helicopters and fixed wing, on behalf of the Irish Coast Guard. Bristow will begin transitioning to the new contract in the fourth quarter of 2024.

This announcement comes as Nova Systems continues to expand their special mission aircraft solutions offering, spanning the Atlantic, delivering world class mission system support solutions for 26 rotary wing aircraft.

“The Irish SAR contract builds on the mission systems work we’re already doing in support of Bristow for the Second-Generation UK Search and Rescue Aviation programme (UKSAR2G) and Dutch Caribbean Coastguard”.

“What makes Nova Systems unique is our experience and expertise with leading edge technology to make aircraft special mission ready,” Mr Dyer continued.

“Our team includes experienced mission systems operators, who have flown extensively in the Airborne Parapublic environment, and who are an integral part of our design and testing process.

We have a proven record of working closely with our clients to deliver bespoke solutions tailored to meet their exacting requirements through the application of cutting-edge technology and the experience of Nova’s operators.

We look forward to delivering on this contract and supporting the vital work of the Irish search and rescue teams.”

It was confirmed earlier this year that Bristow Ireland had secured the contract to provide search and rescue aviation services on behalf of the Irish Coast Guard and Department of Transport.

The contract us currently held by CHC Ireland.
