Elevate Foundation, the Soar Foundation and Clare Youth Services unite to run free youth wellbeing festival taking place in three locations throughout Clare this April.

Elevate are proud to announce the return of YouthFest 2019 in conjunction with the Soar Foundation and Clare Youth Services. This year’s festival promises to be bigger and better than ever before, running over three days across three different locations in county Clare this April.

This free youth well-being festival will be jam-packed with lots of different activities including powerful tips and tools to help young people manage their mental health and wellbeing, as well as music, food and inspirational guest speakers who will share stories of how they overcame challenges in their lives and made their dreams a reality.

Youth mental illness is an issue we are all too familiar with. Ireland has one of the highest rates of mental health illness in Europe, ranking joint third out of the 36 countries surveyed in the annual Health at a Glance report. Headlines reaffirm the belief that our young people are feeling more and more pressure from our modern fast-paced world. Soar and Elevate, two champions of youth well-being and empowerment, are teaming up to create new innovative ways to be of support to young people in Clare.

Speaking in advance of YouthFest, Elevate Founder and well-known Clare hotelier, John Burke, Managing Director of the Armada Hotel, says youth clubs offer a vital social outlet for young people in rural communities and towns throughout Clare.

“The impact these clubs can have on young people and their well-being cannot be underestimated. We are delighted to deliver this year’s YouthFest with the Soar Foundation and Clare Youth Services. Our aim is that young people will leave with a lasting impact to support self-belief, mental health and wellbeing”.

The Soar Foundation, co-founded by former Clare All-Star hurler Tony Griffin in 2012 is delighted to be partnering with Elevate and Clare Youth Services to deliver this event. “Soar’s core belief is in the greatness of all young people and we hope that this event will help highlight the potential of the young people of Clare” said Soar founder Tony Griffin. “YouthFest 2019 promises to be a wonderful event that will inspire young people to blaze their own trail and chase their dreams. We are excited to be involved and can’t wait to meet the incredible young people of Clare.”

YouthFest 2019 will take place on April 16th in Hotel Doolin (for 13-15 year olds), April 17th in the Armada Hotel, Spanish Point (for 13-15 year olds) and on April 25th in Glór, Ennis (for 16-18 year olds). Each day will run from 10am-2pm with some light breakfast snacks and lunch provided for all in attendance.

This free festival is open to Clare Youth Services (CYS) members only. CYS are an integral part of the Clare community. CYS has over 60 Clubs, Projects and Information points with over 4,000 young people involved in programmes around Clare. Through these clubs, they are hoping to make this the best year yet.

Registration for this event is necessary so sign up before it books up. Contact your local youth club in Clare to sign up and register for transportation or contact Evelyn at Clare Youth Services for more details by emailing clubdevelopment@clareyouthservice.org

YouthFest 2019, a festival of music, storytelling and real conversation is an opportunity for young people to break free from the expectations of how they should be and connect with one another. This event is an opportunity for them to stretch beyond their everyday life and scale the heights of their own ambition.

The Elevate Foundation is a dedicated philanthropic fund which funds youth mental health and well-being experts to deliver programmes, talks, workshops and events for young people throughout Co. Clare. Their vision is to empower young people to develop the skills, awareness, confidence and opportunities they need to realise their greatest potential and to create a sustainable improvement in the lives of young people in Clare.
