A charity event organised following the death of a young Ennis woman in 2012, will return this year and will be held in Ennistymon in May.
The Maureen Lavery Pink Angel Ball was set up after Maureen passed away on January 21st 2012 at the very young age of 27 after battling cancer for 13 months.
Her friends wanted to do something in her honour, so along with her family, the first Pink Angel Ball was held in May 2012, again in 2013, 2014 and 2015.
In that time in excess of €35,000 was raised for local cancer charities, namely Cahercalla Hospice and Sláinte an Chláir. The event also donated to the Old Folk Christmas Dinner and an orphanage in Belarus.
A number of fundraising events also take place including coffee mornings, Pitch & Putt, Soccer Match, Christmas Pub Quiz and last year instead of the Ball we ran a Fashion Event.
Maureen’s mother Mairéad said: “The charity relies solely on local businesses and the generosity of people to run these events and to keep our cost down so that all monies raised go directly to the charities.
However, the Ball is back on this year due to demand and a date has been set for Saturday May 20th 2017 in The Falls Hotel, Ennistymon.”

“We are also hosting a Tea Party/cake sale/childrens party in the Maria Assumpta Hall in Ennis on Saturday April 29th from 2pm to 5pm,” Mairéad added.
