Addressing Elected Members, Council staff and family members and friends, Councillor Murphy said, “Over the past year, I have been privileged to serve my county as Leas Cathaoirleach. I am delighted to be able to take on the role of Mayor at a time when very positive things are happening in Ennis and surrounding areas.”

“I look forward to contributing to the workings of this Municipal District and, in turn, the wider community in Ennis and surrounding areas, including Kilmaley, Barefield, Kilnamona, Quin, Doora and Clarecastle,” he added.

Outgoing Mayor Ann Norton congratulated Mayor Murphy on his election, adding that serving as Mayor of Ennis had been the “greatest honour” of her life.
