Quality & Qualifications Ireland (QQI), the state agency responsible for maintaining the ten level National Framework of Qualifications, is to join forces with Transition Year Ireland on a three-year partnership.
Through this deal, QQI will get involved with the upcoming TY Expo 2016, which is taking place on the 12th and 13th September at the Punchestown Racecourse Event Centre, where they will actively engage with attendees through speaker opportunities and branding at the event.
Commenting on the announcement, Dr. Padraig Walsh, Chief Executive, QQI, said, “We are excited to team up with Transition Year Ireland to make the most of the opportunities that this partnership offers us both. We look forward to engaging with their audience on a direct basis which will be a positive experience for the team at QQI.”
Speaking about the partnership, Edwin Landzaad, CEO, TYI, said, “We are delighted to have QQI as our strategic partner for the next three years. A relationship with QQI will allow us to improve our communication channels and offer more creative opportunities for knowledge sharing.”
Established by the Quality Assurance and Qualifications (Education and Training) Act 2012, QQI is an amalgamation of the previously operational Further Education and Training Awards Council (FETAC); the Higher Education and Training Awards Council (HETAC); the Irish Universities Quality Board (IUQB) and the National Qualifications Authority of Ireland (NQAI).
Transition Year Ireland (TYI) is an Information Resource for Transition Year Students and their parents, teachers and the wider Transition Year community. The organisation is there to inform students about opportunities and to act as a conduit for the promotion of Transition Year related activities, programmes and initiatives.
