Clarecare launches recruitment drive for home support workers

Clarecare, one of County Clare’s longest-established and most trusted home support providers, has announced a major recruitment campaign to hire a significant number of Home Support Workers across the county.

As part of this initiative, Clarecare will host a series of Recruitment Roadshows throughout October and November, giving potential candidates the opportunity to meet the Home Support team, learn more about the vital services they provide, and explore rewarding full-time and part-time career opportunities within the organisation.

This campaign comes at a time of increasing national demand for home  support workers. Ireland is currently facing a critical shortage of home support workers, driven by an ageing population, rising demand for home-based care, and workforce challenges such as staff retirements.

According to the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI), Ireland’s population aged 65 and over is projected to increase from 780,000 in 2022 to more than 1.3 million by 2040, with those aged 85 and older accounting for much of this growth. To meet future care needs, the ESRI estimates that Ireland will require between 57% and 91% more home support hours by 2040, highlighting the urgent need to recruit and train new home support professionals nationwide.

Cathal O’Neill, Home Support Service Manager at Clarecare, emphasised the importance of acting now to build a sustainable workforce:

“More people than ever are choosing to age at home, but without a strong workforce of Home Support Workers, many in our community may be left without the essential care they need. With a significant number of experienced staff approaching retirement and the demand for services continuing to rise, it is vital that we recruit and train new Home Support Workers now.
He added:
“If you’re compassionate, kind, reliable, and trustworthy — and want to make a real difference in people’s lives — we’d love to hear from you. Whether you’re just starting your career or looking for a meaningful change, now is the perfect time to join Clarecare’s growing and vital Home Support Service.”

For more than 50 years, Clarecare has been serving communities across County Clare, providing a wide range of professional and compassionate support services to older people and families throughout the region.
