SafeTalk training workshop in Ennis

Ennis Lions Club along with Cllr Mary Howard are organising a SafeTalk training workshop in the Templegate Hotel in Ennis on Thursday April the 27th – registration at 5.30 and the workshop begins at 6pm.

SafeTalk is a free suicide alertness workshop and is suitable foe everyone who wants to help prevent suicide.At the workshop you will learn four basic steps to recognise when people have thoughts of suicide, and to connect them to suicide first aids resources.

Cllr Mary Howard explains that “SafeTalk is a half day training programme that prepares you to identify people with thoughts of suicide and connect them. Most people in crisis do not want to die, they just want the pain to stop!”

Maria Molloy of Ennis Lions Club urges everyone to attend as the training is suitable for everyone who wants to help prevent suicide and is prepared to become suicide alert, however, the training is not suitable for those who have been bereaved recently by suicide.

“I believe everyone should do this training and equip themselves with the tools to be open to how others are feeling, please come along and join us and help to make a difference”, concluded Cllr Howard
