Members of Clare Civil Defence will rejoin the search tomorrow morning for a young man reported missing in Galway City.
A significant search operation was mounted on Wednesday night and resumed early today after a person was reported to have entered the water at the Claddagh.
The Galway RLNI inshore lifeboat (ILB) was tasked along with Galway City Fire and Rescue Service, National Ambulance Service and GardaÃ.
The Shannon-based Irish Coast Guard helicopter, Rescue 115 was also requested to assist with the search. The Costello Bay unit of the Irish Coast Guard also joined the operation late last night.
The search was later stood down for the night but resumed this morning with additional resources being mobilised.
Civil Defence units from Galway, Mayo and Clare were tasked along with the Cleggan unit of the Coast Guard.
The Aran Islands RNLI all-weather lifeboat (ALB) and Oranmore Maree Coastal Search Unit also joined the search deployed boats and jetskis.

Several local vessels also offered assistance and carried out searches of Galway Bay. Land search teams combed coastal areas including the south Galway and North Clare coastlines.
Two drone search teams were mobilised by Clare Civil Defence from their base in Ennis and will return to rejoin the search on Friday morning.
The search operation is being coordinated by watch officers at the Irish Coast Guard’s marine rescue coordination centre on Valentia Island in Kerry.
