The Lough Derg RNLI lifeboat was tasked on Saturday afternoon following reports that a sailing cruiser had run aground.
Watch officers at the Irish Coast Guard’s marine rescue coordination centre on Valentia Island in Kerry alerted the Dromineer-based volunteer crew at around 3.30pm.
The crew was requested launch to assist 6 people on a sailing cruiser aground near Parker’s Point.
At 3.50pm when the lifeboat arrived on scene, and found another sailing cruiser had towed the vessel into safe water, and was underway and making way to its home harbour at Mountshannon.
The lifeboat came alongside the casualty vessel to check that everything was alright and were told by the skipper that all was well with the vessel. All of his crew on board were wearing their lifejackets.
Once the Coast Guard had been updated on the situation, the lifeboat was released from its tasking and returned to based.
