Lough Derg RNLI seeking volunteer for Launching Authority role

Lough Derg RNLI, based at Dromineer in Co Tipperary, are looking for volunteers to join the team in the role of Launching Authority.

A Launching Authority’s role is to: authorise launch of the lifeboats; provide leadership in the absence of the Lifeboat Operations Manager or as delegated; ensure that all operational activities are carried out to maintain the lifeboats and all associated equipment in a constant state of readiness for launching on service.

In this role you will help save lives on Lough Derg by carrying out the day-to-day management of the lifeboat station to ensure a permanent state of readiness for service. No previous experience is required; all training and resources are provided at the station and by the charity.

Lough Derg RNLI lifeboat station was established in 2003 and, after months of intensive training, went live for service on 24 April 2004. We are delighted to have new volunteers join the team.

A lifeboat spokesperson said: “The lifeboat and its volunteers receive enormous support for their lifesaving work from local communities all around the lake. Indeed, our local RNLI fundraising branch has been active and raising awareness of the lifeboats for many decades before an RNLI lifeboat was stationed here.

If you enjoy being a good communicator with leadership skills, have local maritime knowledge, live or work within 15 minutes of the station, and are over 17 years old, we would love to hear from you. Our contact telephone number is: 087 6004366 or message us through their Facebook page.”
