A missing swimmer has been found safe on board a fishing boat in Co Clare.
The alarm was raised at around 11am when the man was reported missing following a training swim in Kilkee.
Two other swimmers reported their friend missing after they had returned to shore safely.
The Kilkee unit of the Irish Coast Guard launched their rescue boat and carried out a search of Kilkee Bay.
Volunteers located the missing man when they searched a fishing boat anchored in the bay. The man was rushed back the rescue centre where he was treated for exhaustion.
The Shannon based search and rescue helicopter was also requested to assist in the operation but was stood down once the swimmer was found.
Conditions in the area were said to be rough at the time with winds blowing up to force 5 at times.
The man did not require hospitalisation and returned home after treatment.
