The N68 route between Lissycasey and Knockalough is expected to be closed for a time this afternoon so that a truck can be safely removed from a ditch.
The driver is understood to have escaped injury after the vehicle left the main road at Gortygeeheen about 3kms west of Lissycasey. This incident occurred at around 10am today and Gardaí from Kilrush station responded to the scene.
The Tesco delivery truck, which was travelling towards Ennis at the time, appears to have left the road, travelled along the top of the ditch before coming to a stop on its side off the roadway.
Gardaí have confirmed that the N68 main road between Ennis and Kilrush at Crag Lissycasey will be fully closed from 3pm to 4pm to allow for the removal of a truck following a collision this morning.
Cars coming from Ennis to Kilrush will be diverted down the L2158. Cars from Kilrush to Ennis will be diverted down the L2138.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible.
In February 2024, another articulated lorry also operated by Tesco, left the road at Cahera near Lissycasey on the same route about 10km from the scene of this latest collision. The driver escaped injury from that collision.
