Met Éireann has issued a Weather Advisory for Ireland ahead of an expected spell of heavy period of heavy and persistent rainfall.
The advisory, which was issued on Sunday morning, will remain in place until midnight on February 9th.
Status Yellow Rain Warnings have already been issued for some counties for Tuesday and Wednesday while a risk remains of similar warnings being issued of Clare.
Forecasters have said: “Spells of heavy and persistent rainfall will continue through the week of 02nd February, particularly in southern and eastern coastal counties.
Rain will fall on saturated ground where river levels are high with high tides expected this week. This will lead to further flooding along rivers and in coastal areas.”
Met Éireann has advised ‘close monitoring of local weather conditions via www.met.ie and river gauge data www.waterlevel.ie is strongly advised.’
