Windy conditions expected for Sunday evening

Update: Met Éireann has confirmed that a Status Yellow Wind Warning issued for this evening will now come into effect two hours earlier at 2.00pm.

The alert, for Clare, Cork, Donegal, Galway, Kerry, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Waterford, Wexford and Wicklow, will also end two hours earlier at 10.00pm (Sunday).

Forecasters say it will be very windy with strong and gusty south to southwest winds and gales or strong gales near coasts.

Earlier: Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow Wind Warning for several counties including Clare.

Forecasters say we can expect that it will be windy with strong and gusty southwest winds between 4.00pm and midnight.

Other affected counties include for Kerry, Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo if anyone is expecting to travel to this areas.

The potential impacts of the strong winds include:

• some wave overtopping
• loose objects displaced
• some fallen trees and branches
• difficult travelling conditions

Motorists, cyclists and pedestrians are advised to travel with extreme caution.
