Tuesday, 12.05pm – Met Éireann has extended the Cold Weather Advisory to Saturday. Originally due to expire on Friday at 10.30pm, the advisory will now remain in place until 9.00am on Saturday.
Tuesday, 10.00am – While the latest Status Yellow Low Temperature/Ice warning has expired, a Met Éireann Cold Weather Advisory issued by Met Éireann on Saturday will remain in effect until Friday.
Monday, 10.30pm – Met Éireann has issued another weather warning for Ireland while a weather advisory issued on Saturday remains in place.
The latest Status Yellow – Low Temperature/Ice warning for Ireland was issued tonight to take immediate effect and remaining in place until 10.00am on Tuesday.
Forecasters say we can expect it to be cold with icy conditions.
Meanwhile, a Cold Weather Advisory issued by Met Éireann on Saturday will remain in effect until Friday.
We can expect cold weather across Ireland all this week with sharp/severe frost, icy patches and dense fog at times leading to hazardous/dangerous travelling conditions.
The advisory is currently due to expire at 10.30pm on Friday.
Monday, 8.40am – TFI Local Link (Clare & Limerick) have confirmed that their 344, 318, 342, 335, 337 and 339 services are running but clients are advised to expect delays due to road and fog conditions
Earlier, the 7.20am C23 service from Ballyvaughan to Ennis was cancelled due to road and fog conditions.
Sunday, 3.55pm – Driving conditions in Clare remain dangerous. Visibility on routes across the county including the M18 motorway is as low as 100 feet in places. Cautions is urged.
Sunday, 12.01pm – Met Éireann has now issued a Status Yellow Fog Warning for Ireland.
Foggy conditions already exist across Clare while one Ryanair flight has diverted to Cork Airport as a result of poor visibility in Shannon.
Met Éireann says that areas of fog will become dense and widespread this evening and linger until Monday morning. The fog will clear eastern and southern counties early Monday morning.
The conditions are likely to result in hazardous travel conditions
The warning will come into effect at 6.00pm today (Sunday) and remain in place until 10.00am on Monday.
A Ryanair flight from Gatwick in England, due in Shannon at 11.40am, was forced to divert to Cork Airport because of poor visibility. The flight had attempted to land twice but was unable to do so safely.
Passengers were expected to be transported to Shannon by bus this afternoon.
Meanwhile, Aer Lingus flight EI-381 from London Heathrow landed safely at 12.16pm.
Saturday, 6.30pm – Met Éireann has issued a Cold Weather Advisory for Ireland.
Cold weather is expected across Ireland this weekend and over the coming week.
Forecasters have stopped short of issuing a weather warning but say there will be harp/severe frost, icy patches and dense fog at times leading to hazardous/dangerous travelling conditions.
It’s possible however that a formal weather warning could be issued in the coming days.
The advisory, which came into effect this afternoon, will remain in place until 10.30pm on Friday January 12th.
Motorists in particular are urged to travel with care following multiple road traffic collisions in the county in icy conditions in recent days.
