The Hub Café on Chapel Lane is currently looking for young adults to run and shape the space.
A Clare Youth Service project, the café-style space is run by volunteers supported by Clare Youth Service staff.
The Hub currently opens two late evenings a week, Fridays and Saturdays, from 6-10pm. Members can avail of the upstairs lounge to relax, play pool, board games, read and hang out with friends. The downstairs café serves coffees, teas and snacks to members and the public.
Evan Moloney, Volunteer & Hub committee member says: “The Hub really is a blank canvas for 18-25 year olds in Co. Clare. We’ve run gigs here, had festival launches, drug and alcohol awareness nights, jobs clubs.
The committee regularly consults with Hub members and CYS staff in order to offer an engaging space for people to relax, meet new people, and learn new things. The Hub does its best to offer members opportunities and activities based on their interests.”
The project has a strong alcohol and drug free ethos, and aims to provide an alternative to the pub scene for young adults in Co. Clare.
Hub committee members get opportunities for training, upskilling and personal development which many have found very beneficial to their work and personal lives.
If you are interested in joining the committee, volunteering, or simply checking out what The Hub has to offer, please drop in any Friday or Saturday evening between 6 and 10PM, or contact Mike Gavin (Youth Worker, Clare Youth Service) on 0656845350.
