Colm Collins is to continue as manager of the Clare Senior Footballers.

He was ratified to stay on in charge for another season at least following Tuesday’s meeting of the Clare County Board. Colm has oversaw League promotion from Division 4 and Division 3 during his tenure while he also led the County to their first ever appearance in an All-Ireland SFC quarter-final this year.

“All things being right I’d like to go back, I’m just waiting on a few bits and pieces that the Board have to do. We’re obviously going into Division 2 next year and we’re competing against teams that put a lot into football so we’re going to need to up the bar in that area” he told The Clare Herald in the past week.

Now that these matters have been agreed with the Board, Collins is to finalise his management team. David O’Brien and Mick Bohan were part of Colm’s management team in 2016 and proved to be very popular with players. Paudie Kissane and Ephie Fitzgerald have previously worked as coach under Collins while Ger Keane served as selector up until the end of the 2015 campaign.

Clare’s sole football All-Star Seamus Clancy has been appointed as manager of the County’s minor football team, he will be joined by Shane Flanagan, Michael Rouine, Eamon Keane and Liam Conneely on his management. Michael O’Shea is stepping down as Joint Manager of the Clare U21’s with Neil Hawes to continue in the position with Martin Brennan and Donal Ó hÁiniféin staying on as selectors.
