Ireland’s newest sporting organisation, the Club Players Association will intensify its awareness and connection with all 52 clubs in Clare in the coming week as eight County Reps begin directly networking with each club in their region.

Promising to be an active and progressive voice for all adult club players, the CPA has received much local and national media coverage since its launch last week.

However, in order to achieve its goal of providing a strong voice, it’s imperative that all players, mentors and supporters register their support according to the CPA’s County Coordinator Eoin Brennan. “There has been overwhelming goodwill within the county since last week’s launch but it’s now that the real work starts as we look to develop strong relationships with all clubs and their members.

“Players have to come first, they are the main asset of the GAA and the only way that we can refocus the association from the ground up and make meaningful change with regards to fixtures and player welfare is to have a CPA Club Officer in every club who will get the message across to its members, drive registration and also provide feedback to the County Rep in their region”, the Clarecastle man said.

Clare has been geographically divided into four regions (Mid Clare, West Clare, North Clare, East Clare) with two County Reps per region directly liaising with clubs. Syl O’Connor, Michael Considine, Kevin Brennan, Colm Madden, Eoin O’Malley, Padraig Brennan, Eoin Downes and Cathal Dillon have taken on these roles in the Banner county.

Brennan continued, “We have a very determined and committed group of County Reps who have generously volunteered their time and effort with the sole focus of getting our clubs and their players the respect they deserve. For too long, players and clubs have hesitantly accepted the current plight and uncertainty of the club fixtures calendar but why should they?

“It’s time to say that enough is enough so I would appeal to all clubs in Clare to put their weight behind the Club Players Association, promote registration on social media and other internal communication tools, and of course encourage their members to sign up at www.gaaclubplayers.com.”
