A Clare native has been making waves on the schools’ rugby scene by lifting one of the province’s most prestigious trophies.
Ennis teenager Oisin Mangan helped Rockwell College, the noted rugby school in Tipperary, on their way to winning the Munster A U18 schools Bowen Shield in Clanwilliam Park on Wednesday.
Scrum-half Oisin, who is also an Ennis RFC clubman, played his part in an immense second half display which saw Rockwell defeat Cork-based Bandon Grammar 25 points to 8.
Rockwell beat all the top schools in Munster in their quest for this title beating CBC & Pres from Cork along with St Munchins and Crescent Comp from Limerick on the way.
Oisin, who is a life member of Ennis RFC, started his rugby with Ennis as a six-year-old and remains a proud clubman while continuing to develop through the schools system.
Rockwell College is one of the leading rugby schools in Munster and has a long tradition with Co Clare with many students past and present attending the famous College.
