Davy Fitzgerald looks set to be without regular goalkeeper Pa Kelly and star attacker Conor McGrath for Saturday’s All-Ireland Championship qualifier with Laois.

Kelly has been the number one choice goalkeeper on the team since Fitzgerald was appointed manager in October 2011. He sustained an ankle injury during Clare’s preparations for Saturday’s tie.

Cratloe’s Conor McGrath didn’t feature for his club in their opening round win over Corofin in the Clare Senior Football Championship and is fighting to overcome a hip complaint ahead of the weekend.

Both are in a race against time to be fit for the clash with the O’Moore men.

David McInerney has returned to light training and his fitness will be examined closer to throw-in. Aaron Cunningham has recovered from a hamstring injury that prevented him from earning a starting position in Clare’s Munster Championship defeat to Waterford.

In the absence of Inagh/Kilnamona man, Davy Fitzgerald will have to choose between Andrew Fahey and Donal Tuohy to line out between the posts with the Whitegate man tipped to make his Championship debut.
