Paul Kinnerk is set to depart the management of the Clare Senior Hurling team.
He was trainer to the side that claimed the County’s fourth ever All-Ireland Senior Hurling title in 2013 and served in the same role as the Clare U21’s recorded a historic All-Ireland three-in-a-row from 2012 to 2014.
Kinnerk is joining John Kiely’s management team for the Limerick Senior Hurlers in 2017. Kiely the current Limerick U21 boss is to be ratified as senior manager at a meeting of the County Board on Tuesday in Claughaun.
Another former member of the 2013 Banner backroom team will work alongside Kinnerk in the Treaty County. Rathkeale native Joe O’Connor was Strength & Conditioning Coach under TJ Ryan in 2016 and will continue in this role under Kiely.
A former senior footballer with Limerick, Paul assisted the Anthony Daly trained Minor Hurlers in their preparation for this month’s All-Ireland Final with Tipperary. Jimmy Quilty who was a selector to John Kiely with the U21s is to make the stepup to the senior side. It is expected a further addition will be made to their management in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile both Clare managers Colm Collins and Davy Fitzgerald have yet to confirm with the County Board their positions for 2017. The duo are tipped to continue in their respective roles for the year ahead.
