Meelick’s Paddy Healy has been selected to play on the Irish International Rugby League team.
Paddy a first year quantity surveying student at LIT is the only Munster player to be selected on the Irish squad for the upcoming Four Nations which takes place in Scotland.
A former student at Ardscoil Rís, Healy was chosen as man of the match by the British selectors in a recent outing between the Irish International Rugby League student’s team and the English Lions.
According to the scrum-half, playing with the LIT Senior Rugby team has physically and mentally prepared him for this upcoming challenge. Former Irish international Joy Neville has had a big influence on Healy as coach of the Limerick institute.
The Clareman isn’t just making a name for himself on the rugby pitch. He is well known in Kilkee as a traditional flute player and song writer. For the summer months, Paddy is the resident player in Fitzpatrick’s Bar, Kilkee on Saturday nights.
