Coolmeen’s Cathal O’Connor has overcome an injury that forced him to retire early in Clare’s Munster Championship opener.
A vital player in Colm Collins’s team, O’Connor who plays at midfield collided with an advertising hoard in the Gaelic Grounds and was replaced by Podge Collins with thirty three minutes played. Cathal watched the remainder of the game from the sideline with his arm in a sling.
Cathal who made his debut for the Clare Senior Footballers in February 2009 returned to training last week at Clare GAA’s Centre of Excellence in Caherlohan, Tulla. He is set to partner Gary Brennan in the middle of the field in Killarney on Sunday as the Banner County aim to upset the 2015 All-Ireland finalists.
Kilmurry/Ibrickane’s Enda Coughlan damaged his hamstring in training last weekend and his condition will be monitored over the coming days. The experienced utility man played in the final fifteen minutes in Clare’s last outing. Management are holding out hope that Coughlan will be named in the twenty six man panel this weekend.
