A below regulation turnout forced Kilmaley Camogie Club to pospone its AGM.

Addressing the committee and members in attendance who fell below the quorum of 20% Chairperson Samantha Coote said that the club has no other option but to pospone the AGM. She and her committee were disappointed with the attendance for such an important meeting. A reconvened AGM will take place on Friday November 11th at the Kilmaley Inn.

Chairperson Coote and secretary Donal Hurley are no seeking further terms in office in what has been described as “a challenging time for the club”. The membership have been informed that, if candidates for these positions are not put in place at next Friday’s meeting, the club will face serious implications, which could include suspension of club all activities.

Overall the past year was an eventful year with several underage teams winning country titles. The committee is confident that the club will be successful in finding the relevant official to run the club in 2017.

Speaking to The Clare Herald, PRO Anne McMahon highlighted the role the club played since its foundation thirty three years ago. “Kilmaley Camogie was established in 1983 by an enthusiastic group of parents who felt that Camogie was an important part of their families lives, especially for their young daughters. The club has played an important part in parish society over the past thirty years, which include county titles at all age groups and four Clare senior championship winning teams”.

She is requesting on behalf of the club for the members of Kilmaley Camogie Club to attend Friday’s meeting. “The club is appealing to the current members of which there is 180 in total to become more involved in the administration of the club for the upcoming season. Parents who wish to become involved and wish to offer the club help are asked to contact the club secretary Donal Hurley”.
