It was 2-0 right on half time when McCarthy scored his second after getting on the end of a Cathal Hayes cross and finishing well. Eoin O’Brien made it 3-0 on 73 minutes after great work from Steve Carroll down the right created the opening. A good run from Ronan McCormack was stopped by a hand ball in the area on 75 minutes and McCarthy made no mistake from the penalty spot to complete his hat-trick.

Bryan O’Donoghue scored the second from a corner at the half hour to put Town 2-0 up. To their credit Olympic pushed for their opener and were rewarded with a goal from Derek Maxwell after a sustained period of pressure to leave it 2-1 at half time.
Town went in search of the all important third goal of the game and Colin Scanlon finished very well from a tight angle to keep his great start to the season going. Olympic scored their second shortly with a good finish from Jay Regan to make it 3-2 but Town hit back again with a goal from Evan Glynn and then made sure of the points when Jack Kelly rose at the back post to fire a great header past the Olympic keeper to make it 5-2.

Bridge Utd A 1
Sporting Ennistymon A 1
Venue: LIT
The points were shared in LIT on Sunday morning when Bridge United hosted Sporting Ennistymon. Together Bridge and Ennistymon attacked early on creating an open and entertaining contest. Sean Mc Conigley could have grabbed himself an early goal but Darren Murphy did just enough to take the sting out off his shot for Paul Tuohy to collect.
Pewter and Okoro were the launch-pad for United’s attack and they snatched the lead with 34 minutes on the clock, David Fitzgerald decided to depart on a voyage to try close down winger Mc Namara but all he returned with was egg on his face as Eoghan Pewter stole in at the back post to poke home from close range. Sporting had a gilt edge opportunity to equalise but Jamesy Mc Conigley’s tame effort was pounced on by Paul Tuohy. Bridge dominated the opening half and rightly led 1-0 at the break.
The game began to become stretched from the beginning of the second half and more goal chances were fashioned, Sean Mc Conigley and Ciaren Monaghan causing problems in the oppositions half while Okoro, Fitzgerald and Pewter tested Fitzgerald in the Sporting goal. Sporting introduced Cathal Mc Conigley and his arrival was almost instant his lobbed attempt flashed past the helpless Tuohy and also the post. Still in search of a goal, Ennistymon’s prayers were answered, a long ball was impeccably controlled by Sean Mc Conigley and he smartly finished to restore parity.
Mc Nulty introduced Brian O’Connor for a more attacking option but his side couldn’t find that pivotal goal they seeked. This result has severely dented Bridge United’s chances of lifting the Maloney Garden Machinery Premier Division trophy but today’s draw pushed their unbeaten streak to an astounding 40 matches.

Within five minutes, Glass picked up the ball on the left of the hosts’ penalty area and drove into the box before finding the bottom right corner to double the away side’s advantage. After resisting further Mountshannon attacks, Avenue finished the opening period with a flourish as they halved the deficit.
