Ennis U18’s continued their Pan Munster league campaign with a comprehensive 24-7 victory over Young Munster at Tom Clifford Park in Limerick.
Playing into a strong breeze in the 1st half Ennis were put under pressure from the outset by a strong Young Munster unit. They finally broke through after 20 minutes collecting a try through their winger. Ennis fought back and began to gain a foothold in Young Munster territory.
After a series of strong carries close to the try line from Jack Colleran , Aaron Hennessy and Gavin McGonigle , Morgan Garry broke from the base of the ruck to score by the posts just on the half time whistle , David Mescal converted to leave the teams all square at the break.
Playing with the wind in the 2nd half Ennis kept Young Munster pinned inside their own half through very aggressive defending with Ben Quinn, Jack Wall O’Reilly, Alan Culligan, Niall O’Brien and Keelan Butler featuring strongly.
Attempting to break out , Young Munster kicked long and Darren O’Loughlin gathered and returned the ball , from the ensuing breakdown , Ikem Ugwueru broke and accelerated through a gap to score an unconverted try out wide bringing the score to 12-7 to Ennis.
Young Munster continued to struggle to get out of their own half the pressure began to tell and Ugwueru again broke away to score close to the posts, Mescal getting the conversion taking Ennis out to a 19-7 lead.
Another fine kick return from Conor Cahill brought Ennis back on the attack , from a strong scrum in the 22 , Cathal Tatly broke from the base and collected the final score of the game , leaving the final score at 24-7 to Ennis.
