Clare County Council has welcomed the news that Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan has approved the award of contract for the Killaloe Bypass, River Shannon Crossing and upgrade of the R494 project. Costing €44m, the preferred bidder is John Sisk & Company who will now, subject to the normal conditions of appointment, be awarded the Main Scheme Works contract and, all going well, commence construction on site in late March 2022.

Fáilte Ireland has unveiled the first viewing points along the Burren Discovery Trail, a new looped route off the Wild Atlantic Way designed to encourage visitors to explore more and stay longer in the Burren. 

During a visit to County Clare today Minister of State with responsibility for Planning and Local Government Peter Burke TD visited a number of Clare County Council facilities and projects and received updates from Council staff on key strategic projects.

The public is being warned to exercise extreme caution and to especially avoid coastal areas as Storm Barra is set to reach Ireland early on Tuesday.
