The Killaloe unit of the Irish Coast Guard was called into action this afternoon for the third time in as many days.

Three angling initiatives in Clare granted funding through Inland Fisheries Ireland’s Sponsorship Programme. Sean Canney TD, Minister with responsibility for inland fisheries, welcomed funding for 87 angling events and initiatives across the country during the year as part of the programme which supports novice anglers and angling tourism to the tune of €30,000.  

For the first time, Quest Adventure Series will take place on the banks of Lough Derg on Saturday 14th September 2019.

Members of the Killaloe unit of the Irish Coast Guard responded to a fifth call in a week when they were requested to assist a cruise boat in difficulty and drifting close to the bridge in Killaloe.

Two adults and a child had to be rescued from a boat on Lough Derg this evening after it ran aground and began to take on water.

Two cruise boats, carrying a total of four adults and two children, had to be towed to safety after they got into difficulty on Lough Derg today.

The Lough Derg RNLI lifeboat was tasked to assist the crew of a vessel that ran aground on the lake this afternoon.
