Just eight teams remain in the hunt for Sam Maguire, Clare are one of those and for the first time in twenty four years they will play a championship game in Croke Park and it’s a day to be savoured.
Manager Colm Collins insists there’s no easy teams left in the competition. They go in as the underdogs but Collins and Clare don’t care who stands in their way of reaching the last four. “When you get to the last eight of the All-Ireland football championship they’re all serious teams so we don’t care who we play, we really don’t”.
It’s been a season to remember for the Banner having secured promotion to Division 2 of the Allianz National Football League plus their most successful run in the qualifiers. They’re determined for the run to last.
Speaking to The Clare Herald, Collins emphasised that his charges would be giving Kerry the same respect they’ve given to all the other teams conquered by the Banner in 2016.
“We treat them all the same way, the same as we treated Roscommon and the same way we treated Sligo the week before so we’ll be just totally looking forward to it and get a good performance and see where it takes us”.
