Gardaí have issued a road safety message ahead of the May Bank Holiday weekend.

The Irish Coast Guard has commenced a recruitment campaign seeking new volunteer members to expand the Doolin unit.

Emergency services responded to an incident in Co Tipperary this afternoon which turned out to be a false alarm with good intent.

In the lead up to the Easter bank holiday weekend, the Coast Guard, RNLI and Water Safety Ireland have issued a joint water safety appeal and are asking people to take some basic precautions to stay safe when they visit the coast or participate in water activities, be it coastal or inland.

The Road Safety Authority (RSA) and An Garda Síochána are issuing an urgent road safety appeal to all road users to slow down, wear seatbelts, not to drive when impaired, or distracted – particularly by illegally using your phone while driving –, or when tired.

Visit on inpatient wards in University Hospital Limerick (UHL) has been reinstated following the lifting of restrictions which were put in place during a surge in community transmission of COVID-19.

The Department of Public Health Mid-West is urging people to not consume or gift recalled Kinder products, in the lead up to the Easter holiday weekend, as certain Kinder products have been linked to an extensive outbreak of salmonella infection.
