Eight projects at five allocations in West and North Clare have been awarded over €330,000 in funding as part of a €38.3m Capital Investment Package for the ongoing development of Ireland’s publicly owned harbour network.

The Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Michael Creed T.D., has announced details of a €3.1m package to assist 10 coastal Local Authorities including Clare County Council to undertake repair projects on harbours and slipways owned by them.

Fire crews were called to tackle a significant gorse fire in Clare this afternoon where a Condition Orange fire risk warning is in place until Friday.

Arising from current Easterly high pressure weather conditions, forecast high temperatures and low relative humidity levels, a High Fire Risk has been announced by the Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine in all areas where hazardous fuels such as gorse, heather, dried grasses and other dead vegetation exist.
