Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann Inis 2016 has brilliantly reaffirmed Ennis and Co. Clare’s status as the home of traditional music, song and dance, Shannon Airport has stated.

Looking back on what she described as “nine unforgettable days” in Ennis and across Clare, Mary Considine, Company Secretary of Shannon Group, the parent company of Fleadh gold sponsor Shannon Airport, said that Co. Clare wrapped its arms around the biggest annual Irish festival as only it can.

“There was huge expectation for the Fleadh in Ennis because of County Clare’s reputation generally as the home of traditional music, song and dance but that expectation was more than met. From the very off it was a wonderful celebration and, as main sponsor, Shannon Airport was delighted to have been associated with it.

“Ennis was a stadium of 400,000 for the past week and the sense of celebration was as high when the sun shone early in the week as it was when the rains came in at the weekend. It was not just a celebration of the best of traditional Irish music, song and dance, but also of community spirit and teamwork. Ennis and Clare really got behind the Fleadh to ensure that every single visitor, from the moment they arrived to when they departed, experienced something very special” Considine added.

Mary concluded “We must also say a huge congratulations to all in the Fleadh team. They worked under enormous pressure but the return for that was that Ennis and Clare packed in and entertained the crowds and got huge national and global attention on TV, not least through the brilliant Fleadh TV, and social media. It really was a fantastic advertisement for Ennis and Clare.”
