One person has been taken to hospital following a two car collision on the outskirts of Ennis this morning.
The crash occurred shortly after 8.30am on the R469 Ennis to Quin road in the townland of Finanagh at the turn off for Doora.
Two cars collided at a junction notorious for traffic incidents. One car ploughed into a wall after the initial collision.
Units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service from Ennis station along with three ambulances and Gardaí responded to the scene.
National Ambulance Service paramedics assessed the occupants of both vehicles and found that just one required further treatment in hospital. Their injuries are not believed to be serious.
Fire crews implemented an emergency traffic management system and managed to keep traffic moving safely through the scene. The road was later closed however, so that both vehicles could be recovered from the scene.
Fire crews cleared debris from the roadway and then used a water tanker spraying dispersant to clear the scene of a large amount of engine fluids.
The road was fully reopened at 10.20am.
