Update – Killaloe Fire Service responds to serious Limerick collision

Gardaí have confirmed that the woman involved in this collision has died in hospital and have reissued an appeal for witnesses.

The female passenger of the car was receiving treatment at Cork University Hospital. She passed away from her injuries on Sunday 11th August 2024.

Gardaí are continuing to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to come forward.

Road users with camera footage (including dash-cam) who were traveling on the R503 road near Lisnagry, Co. Limerick, on Tuesday 30th July 2024, between 7.45pm and 8.45pm, are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.

Wednesday, July 31st, 8.55am – Fire crews from Clare County Fire and Rescue Service responded to assist their colleagues in Limerick at a serious road traffic collision last night.

Personnel from Killaloe station attended the incident along with crews from Limerick City and Newport and Nenagh stations in Tipperary. National Ambulance Service paramedics and Gardaí also responded to the incident.

Two people remain in a serious condition in hospital following the single-vehicle incident which occurred on the R503 Limerick to Newport road at Drominboy, Lisnagry, on Tuesday at around 8.40pm.

It’s understood that male driver was thrown from the car after it collided with a wall and pole and overturned. The female passenger was left trapped in the car. Both are believed to be in their 20s.

Fire crews had to use specialist cutting equipment to safely extricate the female casualty from the car, believed to be a Mercedes convertible.

The injured were rushed to University Hospital Limerick for treatment for what have been described by Gardaí as serious injuries.

The scene is preserved for technical examination by Forensic Collision Investigators, and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí have issued an appeal for information about the crash.
