Doonbeg Drama Group to stage ‘Willow’ one-act play

Doonbeg Drama Group is delighted to announce its latest production, “Willow”, a captivating one-act play written by Catherine McKiernan.

The performance will take place on Saturday, 18th October at 8pm in Doonbeg Community Hall.

This special evening of local theatre promises to be an engaging and heartfelt production, showcasing the creativity within the Doonbeg Drama Group. “Willow” explores themes of connection, resilience, and the strength of the human spirit.

Admission on the night will be by donation, with all proceeds going towards the Doonbeg Christmas Lights Fund. The group hopes to see a strong turnout from the local community to support both the arts and the festive preparations for the village.

Speaking ahead of the performance, Director Mary Egan said: “We’re thrilled to bring ‘Willow’ to the stage and we are privileged to have the playwright herself Catherine McKiernan in attendance. It’s a wonderful story and an opportunity to enjoy some local talent, and support the upgrading of the Christmas lights which bring festive cheer to the village each year.”

This is the first public performance of the play ahead of Doonbeg Drama Group’s participation in the All Ireland One Act Drama Circuit which will see them present their production at 5 festivals in Waterford, Cork, Mayo and Clare. Everyone is warmly invited to attend, enjoy an evening of quality theatre, and contribute to keeping the Christmas spirit shining bright in Doonbeg.
