Killaloe Coast Guard tasked to incident in Offaly

The Killaloe unit of the Irish Coast Guard was tasked on Wednesday afternoon to assist a 32-foot cruiser reported to be aground South of Shannonbridge Co Offaly.

At 3.30pm, after being alerted by watch officers at the Irish Coast Guard’s marine rescue coordination centre in Valentia, a crew travelled by road with the unit’s D-class rescue boat and launched from the slipway in Shannonbridge.

Once the causality vessel was located and the D-class crew were alongside, an assessment was then carried out. The cruiser was found to be hard aground and the decision was made to remove the skipper from the vessel.
