Doonbeg One Act Drama Festival returns for three nights of theatre

The Doonbeg One Act Drama Festival will return to Doonbeg Community Hall from Saturday 14th November to Monday 16th November 2026, bringing three evenings of drama, comedy and theatrical entertainment to West Clare.

The One Act Drama Festival is an important fixture in Doonbeg’s cultural calendar, bringing performers and audiences together to celebrate amateur theatre and the talent, dedication and creativity of drama groups from across the country. This year’s Festival promises an exciting programme of performances from drama groups travelling from across Ireland, representing counties Cork, Wexford, Dublin, Galway, Kildare and Clare.

Audiences can look forward to a varied programme featuring a mix of contemporary and classic theatre, with productions ranging from comedy and drama to tragedy and absurdist theatre. The selection includes works by established playwrights such as Arthur Miller, J.M. Synge, Bryan MacMahon and Jim Cartwright, alongside contemporary Irish writers.

Among the highlights will be performances by some of Ireland’s established amateur drama groups, as well as a home appearance by Doonbeg Drama Group, who will take to the stage on Monday evening, with their production of The Tinker’s Wedding by J.M. Synge.

The Festival will be adjudicated by Evelyn O’Sullivan, who will critique the performances throughout the three nights.

The Festival opens on Saturday 14th November, with three different one act plays on each night, giving the audience an opportunity to see a total to nine one-act plays across the Festival. Performances on Saturday and Sunday will begin at 8.00pm, with doors opening at 7.15pm. On Monday, doors will open at 6.45pm, with the curtain rising at 7.30pm.

Tickets are priced at €15 for adults and €10 for children. A Weekend Ticket of €35 for adults is also available. Tickets can be purchased online at the festival’s official website, www.westclaredramafestivaldoonbeg.com or at the Box Office on each night.

The full programme, including details of all nine plays and their performance times, is available on festival posters and online.
