Three accidents, each involving three vehicle’s, happened in the northbound lanes at Manus between junction 11 (Dromoland) and junction 10 (Killoo). A single-car crash occurred at the same location on the opposite side of the motorway.

Fire and ambulance services from Ennis, Shannon and Limerick City responded to the incident.

The northbound lanes of the route were closed at Dromoland as the collisions occurred in the hard shoulder and both driving lanes. Traffic on the southbound carriageway was reduced to just one lane.

Paramedics assessed the ten drivers and any passengers travelling with them but found that no one had been seriously injured. Some casualties were transported to hospital as a precaution but are likely to be released later.

The motorway was reopened once all vehicles had been removed and the road cleared of debris and oil.

National Roads Authority (NRA) motorway maintenance crews also attended the incident.
