Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow - Snow/Ice warning for all of Ireland.

Emergency services in Co Clare have been dealing with multiple road traffic collisions this evening as a Status Yellow snow and ice warning for Ireland remains in place.

Provisional road collision statistics show that the number of road deaths in Ireland in 2021 dropped to a record low, making it the safest year since road deaths were first recorded in 1959.

Clare County Council has welcomed the news that Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan has approved the award of contract for the Killaloe Bypass, River Shannon Crossing and upgrade of the R494 project. Costing €44m, the preferred bidder is John Sisk & Company who will now, subject to the normal conditions of appointment, be awarded the Main Scheme Works contract and, all going well, commence construction on site in late March 2022.
