Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow wind warning for most of the west coast including Co Clare.

The RNLI and Irish Coast Guard are appealing to the public to exercise caution when participating in any activity on and near the water during the Christmas and New Year period and at all times to be mindful of the  restrictions in place to deal with the COVID pandemic.

The Irish Coast Guard and RNLI have issued an urgent joint plea following a number of incidents in recent weeks where swimmer have gotten into difficulty.

The volunteer crew of the Kilrush RNLI lifeboat launched this morning following reports of a vessel in difficulty off in the Shannon Estuary Querrin in West Clare.

The Killaloe unit of the Irish Coast Guard was called this afternoon after being requested to check a vessel that may be taking on water due to heavy rainfall in the past week.
