This evening at 7pm RTÉ will air a special episode of Nationwide focusing on Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann Inis 2016.
Nationwide visits Ennis as it gears up for an influx of 400,000 visitors to the County over the week. The show looks at the role volunteers play in the festival, the musical family that can recall the last two times the event was in Clare back in 1956 and 1977 plus the popularity of Fleadh TV with Tola Custy.
Journalist with RTÉ and Clareman Colm Flynn meets the Tulla Céilí band who are celebrating their seventieth anniversary this year. Colm finds out how the group became synonymous with traditional music in Ireland.
Plus there’s plenty of footage from around the County in the recent days leading up to the Fleadh as Mary Kennedy meets people from Clare and beyond.
