Dramatic rescue of children relived in Clare FM documentary

The dramatic rescue of two children swept out to sea in a rip-current at Doughmore Beach near Doonbeg in August 2022, will be recalled by Clare FM on Monday.

Clare FM is set to broadcast a gripping radio documentary on Monday, February 12th, at 11am, recounting the heroic rescue of two children who were swept out to sea on August 13th, 2022.

The harrowing incident sparked a major search and rescue operation involving the Kilkee and Doolin units of the Irish Coast Guard, Rescue 115, the National Ambulance Service, and the local Gardaí.

Now, this extraordinary rescue will be revisited in a compelling documentary featuring interviews with the courageous local men who attempted to save the boys, members of the search and rescue team, water safety experts, and the family at the heart of the incident.

The documentary delves into the determination shown by the young children and the heroism of the rescuers, Darren Byrnes and Ian Bolger, as well as the entire search and rescue team. Through immersive sound effects, the documentary aims to transport listeners into the gripping moments of the riptide, recreating the intensity and danger of the rescue operation.
