Shannon Airport is set to receive a welcome boost following confirmation that Aer Lingus will increase services on its Paris route from two to three times weekly from May.
The airline will operate a twice weekly service, on Sundays and Thursdays, from the recommencement of the route on March 12th until April 30th.
From May 5th, an extra flight will be added on Tuesdays. This will operate until October 29th after which, there will be two flights a week to Paris.
The EI-908 will depart Shannon at 7.10am on each of the three days while the return flight, EI-909, will arrive back in Shannon at midday.
A spokesperson for Aer Lingus said: “Aer Lingus can confirm that it will increase frequency on its Shannon – Paris Charles de Gaulle service from two to three flights per week from 5 May. The additional service will operate on Tuesdays, providing customers in the region with greater choice and connectivity to Paris and onward destinations.”
Interim CEO of The Shannon Airport Group Ray O’Driscoll said: “We are delighted with Aer Lingus’ decision to increase frequency on the Shannon to Paris route. In November 2019, Aer Lingus confirmed that it would add two new routes to its Shannon schedule from 2020 including Paris. However, with the onset of the global pandemic, that plan was scrapped.
In September 2022, Spanish low-cost carrier Vueling commenced services from Shannon to Paris Orly airport. The airline axed the route in June 2023.
That same month, Aer Lingus confirmed that from September 2023, it would operate a twice weekly service from Shannon to the world-renowned international hub at Charles de Gaulle (CDG).
In a further welcome boost to Shannon’ summer schedule this year, Aer Lingus confirmed last September that services from Shannon to Boston would also increase by three weekly flights to ten in peak summer, mid-May to August 20th.
