A €1m investment has paid off for the owners of a Clare hotel that has achieved 4-star status.

Located in the historic village of Bunratty, the hotel has 144 bedrooms hotel, spa and leisure club, employs over 150 people.
The hotel’s 4-star Journey began in 2014 with the complete refurbishment of the function Room allowing the hotel to cater for functions and weddings for up to 300 guests.
The building exterior has seen a complete colour change while the hotel lobby has been redesigned as part of the €1m redevelopment.
Bunratty Castle Hotel proprietor Freda Hayes said: ”The addition of the 4 star rating to the hotel is a great achievement for the entire team and a recognition they should be very proud of.”
“Having bought the hotel in 1996, after developing Bunratty Woollen Mills in the early 90’s, the goal was to create a destination within Bunratty Village for visitors to spend time and enjoy the surroundings. Whether shopping & dining or using Bunratty as a base to tour and visit the Wild Atlantic Way, Bunratty village has a great heritage, an old world charm, many restaurants and the oldest Pub in Ireland Durty Nellies,” Ms Hayes added.
Hotel general manager and Bunratty native David Shelly said: “We are so happy to be awarded with the fourth Star. Bunratty has always delivered a high level of service to all our guests”. Bunratty Castle Hotel is very much looking forward to a continued successful 2016.”
